Levels: Undergraduate Northeast State Online Campus Lecture Schedule Type WEB-Asynchronous Instructional Method Learning Objectives: -- Identify major artists, sculptors, architects, and associate them with their work. -- Develop a vocabulary in aesthetics and the terms of discourse common to works of art. -- Evaluate and analyze critically works of art using appropriate terminology. -- Evaluate the impact of visual images on various diverse cultures and past societies. -- Analyze how artists use rhythm, balance, emphasis, variety, unity, and proportion in works of art. -- Analyze the aesthetics of two-dimensional and three-dimensional designs that integrate line, shape, form, color, value, and texture. -- Analyze significant primary texts and works of art, ancient, pre-modern, and modern, as forms of cultural and creative expression. -- Explain the ways in which humanistic and/or artistic expression throughout the ages expresses the culture and values of its time and place. -- Explore global/cultural diversity. -- Frame a comparative context through which they can critically assess the ideas, forces, and values that have created the modern world. -- Recognize the ways in which both change and continuity have affected human history. -- Practice the critical and analytical methodologies of the arts.
