AVIT 1410 - General Fundamentals III |
General Fundamentals III will instruct the student in the various aircraft materials, hardware and processes. The student will learn to read aircraft drawings, sketch, and interpret the meaning of lines on a drawing. The student will understand the various types of nondestructive inspection and be able to perform simple inspections using dye penetrant, eddy current, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle inspection. They will understand the basic principles of heat treatment of both ferrous and nonferrous metals and be able to distinguish between properly and improperly made welds. This course also introduces the student to the selection of cleaning materials, emphasizing their relationship to the type of material being cleaned. It stresses the identification of the various types of corrosion, the evaluation of corrosion damage, the proper way of removing the corrosion deposits, and the treatment of the corroded area.

Prerequisites: ENGL 1010, MATH 1010, and EDUC 1030.
